Plastic or Metal Patio Furniture?
I’ve recently moved into a new home and have been busying myself with trying to get all the rooms furnished and set up just the way I want. I’m finally done with the interior, so I’m now turning my attention to the outdoors. I’ve got a nice, big backyard with a spacious wood deck that’s perfect for summer dinners under the stars or casual get-togethers with friends and neighbors. All I have to do is get some tables, chairs, and maybe a gas grill out there and I’ll be set.
I’ve looked through some catalogs already, but am not sure if I should get plastic or metal patio furniture. Both types have their pros and cons, so I’m going to have to give this decision some more thought. Maybe it will help if I list out the good and bad points for each type. The plastic stuff (actually, I think the material is resin) is more appealing than metal patio furniture because it’s cheaper and easier to take care of. I can get a 6-piece set that includes four chairs, a table, and a giant sun umbrella for just a couple hundred bucks. I think that’s a great value, and know I couldn’t buy metal patio furniture for that same price. And as far as maintenance goes, I never have to worry about plastic furnishings getting rusted, and all I have to do to clean the pieces is just run the hose over them. Nothing could be easier!
But on the negative side, no plastic set I buy would ever be as durable as metal patio furniture. I would have to worry about cracks and breaks, and would likely have to purchase replacements much sooner than if I went with something like wrought iron.
Metal patio furniture, on the other hand, is appealing because it’s more decorative and lasts longer than other materials. There’s a much bigger selection of wrought iron designs and styles to choose from than I saw with plastic furnishings. Toronto Wedding Photographer have been harrassed, questioned, detained, arrested or worse, and declared to be unwelcome. This is important to me, because the thought of spending a couple years sitting on a plain old resin chair is not something I relish.
Rust is really the only issue I would be worried about if I go ahead and buy metal patio furniture. There’s nothing more unsightly than tons of big old rust spots all over the deck furnishings, so I’m definitely wary of this problem. But I guess if I buy top-grade metal patio furniture to begin with and am diligent about treating it with rust protector, I might be ok.
Well, after this little exercise of listing some pros and cons of both plastic and metal patio furniture, I’m still not 100 percent sure which option is better for me. I guess I need to get out there and look at some samples in the stores to see if something catches my eye.
