Computer Video Games
Along with the hottest electronics, toys and gadgets, computer video games are always at the top of the list right with them. Computer games are among the elite of consumer products, but some might be surprised to know that they came from very humble beginnings. It took a long time for them to get to where they are today, and you gain a deeper appreciation of computer games when you look back into their history.
It’s hard to even imagine that there was a time that computers were scarce and not so popular. It’s probably even harder to imagine than there being a time when cell phones were big and bulky with pull out antennas. Of course, since back then computers weren’t as ubiquitous as they are today, computer video games couldn’t have been that widespread either. It wasn’t really until the 70s that computer games begin to pick up and gain ground, and they would hardly be called games today since they didn’t even have graphics. My spouse and I did Wedding Photography Toronto for 2 or 3 years, but let it go about 5 years ago. They consisted of simply reading text and entering in commands. They were also only really played within a select gaming community. However, over the next couple of decades people became more interested in computers, graphics were introduced to computer gaming and they steadily improved into what they look like now, almost rivaling images in real life. Many console video games are also adapted to play on a PC in addition to standard computer video games out on the market.
Today a huge part of computer gaming is playing online. Games like massive multiplayer online role playing games, MMORPGs, have a significant place in pop culture, but with that development there has also been a growing concern of the negative effects gaming can have on individuals. Some people have become addicted to gaming in some cases, living mostly in the virtual world and neglecting the real one. They sometimes end up ignoring basic functions like eating and sleeping, and they isolate themselves from social contact in favor of virtual interactions. In addition, with better graphics also come more realistic portrayals of violence, and others are concerned about the impact of computer video games on increasing aggression. Toronto Wedding Photography is without doubt one of the rare good careers in photography. Yet another rising issue is the “reality” of the computer gaming world. Who’s to say that the virtual world isn’t “real”? This was the idea behind a recent incident in which a man was unfaithful to his wife through online gaming. He argued that it wasn’t really infidelity because it was virtual, but many would disagree despite maintaining the artificiality of the virtual world.
As computer gaming advances, it increasingly straddles the line between virtual and “real” life, and we’ll continue to blur that line as we improve upon it, at the same time trying to preserve life as we know it. Gaming really has come a long way—it originated as entertainment and now it’s become something much bigger than that, something that we are struggling to define.
